From Scania with love
The first part of the road trip through Sweden is over. I kind of started yesterday by taking the train after work from Malmö to Göteborg but drove off from Göteborg today (well, yesterday since it’s 3:41 am, but still)
First I drove alone to Örebro where I had a small meal with and picked up Nin at her parents place. Then we took off together with Östersund being our main goal. Since Örebro to Östersund is a 600 km drive we decided to take a lot of breaks along the way. Our first proper stop was Gagnef, a small municipality between Borlänge and Leksand. A nice town where we did some sightseeing and had some coffee. The another stop was for a short swim in the lake Siljan. After passing Rättvik we thought it was time for a swim since the weather was just to good, and to pass on such an opportunity would have been a shame with Siljan being one of the most beautiful lakes around. A lot of different reasons could have been just as good as the weather even if, when talking about swimming, I prefer nice weather (hot) more than anything else.
After that we had a quick dinner in Orsa, just buying something small from a Pizzeria/Grill and enjoyed it on the stairs to school in Orsa. Afterwards we drove all the way from Orsa to Östersund, almost a 400 km straight drive through the Swedish woods and some mountain tops. Much distance between each society, I have to say that people living out there is both stubborn and inspiring. The landscape was, especially when we passed the countless lakes, astonishing. If you have the chance, take road 45 between Orsa and Sveg, you won’t regret it.
When we arrived Östersund, we quickly realized that we had gone to the wrong place. The place where we were gonna stay was 40 km outside Östersund, in a small village called Oviken. In the end we found the right place, almost 12 hours after we left Örebro, and for me, almost 16 hours after I left Göteborg!
